Biography
Stephanie Powell is more than a candidate for San Antonio City Council District 2—she’s a lifelong East Sider, a dedicated public servant, and a visionary ready to uplift her community. With a career forged in the disciplined world of the U.S. Air Force as a civilian employee, Stephanie brings a unique blend of operational expertise, community pride, and an unshakable commitment to the people of San Antonio. Born and raised in the vibrant neighborhoods of District 2, she’s walked its streets, celebrated its heritage, and listened to its heartbeat. Now, she’s running to transform challenges into opportunities, ensuring every resident thrives in a district she calls home.
Stephanie’s journey began in the shadow of the Alamodome, where she grew up surrounded by the East Side’s rich tapestry of Black and Hispanic cultures. From an early age, she learned the value of hard work and resilience—values reinforced by her family’s deep roots in San Antonio. After graduating from a local high school (perhaps Sam Houston or Brackenridge, common in the area), she pursued a path of service, joining the Air Force civilian workforce. There, she’s spent years supporting military operations—likely in logistics, administration, or personnel—honing skills in problem-solving, teamwork, and efficiency. Her role has given her a front-row seat to the sacrifices of service members and their families, fueling her passion for supporting veterans and working families in District 2.
Beyond the grind, she’s the neighbor you know—volunteering at Ella Austin’s back-to-school drives, marching in the MLK cleanup, or helping seniors untangle Social Security and VA paperwork. She’s led as Senior Vice in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Service Officer in the American Legion, proving she’s no stranger to stepping up. Part-time? She’s driven river tour boats, slung retail at Auto Trader, QVC, and Stein Mart, and worked hotels—always with a smile and a hand out. Her East Side roots run deep—civil rights echoes, murals on East Commerce, the hum of Spurs watch parties—and she’s hell-bent on making it shine.
Stephanie’s campaign’s no half-assed dream—it’s about real jobs for our ~$35,000-income families, safe streets from Denver Heights to Dignowity Hill, and a council that doesn’t tune out the East Side’s heartbeat. She’s faced chaos—a car wreck that totaled her ride, a laptop crash mid-campaign—yet she’s still swinging, fueled by barbecue vibes and a love for her grandkids’ future. Self-funded, no PACs, she’s in it for you—ready to turn Walters Street potholes into smooth pavement, budget waste into community wins, and every voice into action. This ain’t just a bio—it’s a battle cry for District 2.
